1. Why we have this policy
“Unlimited” storage on the Max plan means we don’t meter you for normal product use. It does not mean we can host an unbounded amount of data for one account without it affecting everyone else. This policy sets out what normal use looks like, so the pricing stays honest and the service stays fast.
2. Guideline ranges
| Guideline | Lite | Pro | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Storage | 1 GB | 100 GB | Unlimited* |
| Largest single capture | Platform limit | Platform limit | Platform limit |
Bandwidth and upload counts are not metered. Sharing links with colleagues, clients and an audience is the product working as intended, and we would rather talk to you than count requests. What we watch for is the pattern described in section 3, where an account is being used as a general file host or a content delivery network rather than for sharing captures.
* Unlimited is subject to this policy. There is a ceiling behind the word, currently 5 TB, set far above any real use of a screen capture tool. For scale that is roughly two million screenshots. Reaching it is an outlier we will want to talk about, and usually it means you have a use case we should price properly. We can lift it for a single account without changing anyone else’s plan.
3. Fair use, and what isn’t
Fair use
- Sharing captures with colleagues, clients, and friends.
- Posting links in chat, tickets, code reviews, and social posts.
- Documenting bugs, recording walkthroughs, and giving support.
- Sharing from your own custom domain.
Not fair use
- Hosting images or video for a website, blog, or app.
- Embedding Wacdum links as a CDN for production traffic.
- Uploading media not captured with Wacdum as bulk storage or backup.
- Sharing one account across a team.
4. What happens if you exceed a guideline
- Nothing automatic. No throttling, no deletion, no locked account.
- We email you, usually with what we’re seeing and a suggestion.
- If it is normal product use, we leave it alone or move you to a plan that fits.
- If it is one of the “not fair use” patterns, we ask you to stop and give you a reasonable period to migrate.
- Only if it continues after that, and is degrading the service for others, would we restrict uploads, and we would tell you first.
