License Agreement

The licence that covers the Wacdum macOS app itself.

Last updated 27 July 2026

In short: you get a personal licence to use the Wacdum Mac app on your own devices. Don’t redistribute it, resell it, or pull it apart. The app runs locally and only talks to our cloud when you ask it to.

1. Licence grant

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Wacdum macOS application (the “App”) on Macs you own or control, for as long as you comply with this agreement and our Terms of Service.

The App is licensed to you, not sold.

2. What you may not do

  • redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or lease the App;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices;
  • circumvent licence checks or plan limits;
  • use the App to build a competing product from our code.

3. System permissions

To capture your screen, macOS requires you to grant the App Screen Recording permission. Recording audio requires Microphone permission. These are granted by you in System Settings and can be revoked at any time. The App cannot capture anything without them.

Captures are written to your Mac first. Nothing leaves your machine unless your save destination is set to Cloud, in which case the capture is uploaded to your account.

4. Updates

We may provide updates that fix bugs, improve capture quality, or add features. Updates are covered by this agreement. We may end support for older macOS versions as Apple does.

5. Ownership

We and our licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the App, including all intellectual property in it. Any feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without obligation to you, though we will never claim ownership of your captures.

6. Third-party components

The App uses Apple frameworks and may include open-source components under their own licences. Those licences continue to apply to those components, and where they conflict with this agreement, they prevail for that component.

7. Warranty and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law the App is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it is error-free or that every capture will succeed. Our liability under this agreement is limited as set out in section 12 of our Terms of Service. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

8. Termination

This licence ends if you breach it, or when you uninstall the App. On termination you must stop using the App and remove it from your devices. Captures already saved to your Mac remain yours.
